Darth Maul
A true master of the Lightsaber, Darth Maul is an evil, and truly incredible being. Through the help of his master, Darth Sidious, Darth Maul learnt the ways of the Dark Jedi, and his soul was blackened with hatred for everyone. Used by his master, Darth Maul trained, and began learning the art of handling a two sided Lightsaber, one of the greatest challenges he would ever face. Unlike regular Jedi weapons, the two sided Lightsaber is far more dangerous, both for the attacker, and the attacked. Darth Maul exhibited his skill in the battles he fought with two Jedi, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Darth Maul had fought with many other people, and had numerous victories before his fight with the Jedis. Darth Sidious had often sent Darth Maul to do small tasks, but this was Darth Maul's first chance to really use his powers. He took it.
After the Trade Federation failed to kill Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Sidious sent Darth Maul to find the Jedi, kill them, and then capture the Queen of Naboo. Darth Mauls search began, and he worked till he found Qui-Gon. By staging a fake transmission, he found the Queen's location, and knew the Jedis would be with here. The Queen was on Tatooine, a lonely, desert planet. Using the help of his ship, the Sith Infiltrator, speeder, and Sith probe droids, he located Qui-Gon Jinn. Qui-Gon was in Mos Espa, a city and spaceport. When he found Qui-Gon, Qui-Gon and Anakin Skywalker were running towards the Queen's ship, to take off. Suddenly, he leapt off his speeder in midair, and viciously attacked Qui-Gon Jinn.
Though Qui-Gon Jinn escaped, Darth Maul had not been defeated yet. He knew where they were heading, but dared not attack them again. Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, the Queen, and her companions had left for Coruscant, where he had originally departed. To attack them there would bring certain failure. With such definite endings, he decided to wait, where he knew they would return. Naboo. When they did return, at the Queen's request, the Queen had a plan for getting inside the Theed palace, and taking back Naboo (which had been captured by the Trade Federation). Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan consented to the plan, and made ready to help the Queen.
Unfortunately, their help was short lived. When the Queen and her fellow fighters entered the hangar bay, and began making their way to the highest levels of the palace, Darth Maul intervened. Pursuing the Jedis personally, he allowed the Queen and her company to leave, while he fought the Jedi. In an effort to keep all his surprises for the final battle, Darth Maul had deliberately only used one side of his Lightsaber (keeping the other side off) during the fight on Tatooine. Although it was now two against one, Darth Maul clearly surprised the Jedis, as he ignited both parts of his Lightsaber separately. Two blades for two attackers. As their fight raged, Darth Maul continually hurt his two opponents, but their numbers beat him slowly backwards. They entered the Generator area of the palace, and continued their fight there. Here, Darth Maul took the upper hand.
He began to separate the two Jedis, so he could fight with each other one at a time. By beating back Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, he quickly lashed out and kicked Obi-Wan off the platform. Unfortunately, Obi-Wan survived the fall, but he was too late to save Qui-Gon. With Obi-Wan gone, Darth Maul doubled his attack against Qui-Gon. They entered the smelting pit, and were separated for a time. Obi-Wan was unable to get into the pit area to help Qui-Gon, as force fields blocked his way. He watched in painful anguish as Darth Maul fought with Qui-Gon. Qui-Gon, in a moments hesitation, lost his defense. Qui-Gon spun around, and then began turning back to face Darth Maul. Maul, on seeing Qui-Gon's defense temporarily gone, hit Qui-Gon in the face with his Lightsaber, stunning Qui-Gon. When Qui-Gon began to fall, Darth Maul slid his Lightsaber neatly through Qui-Gon, killing him. Obi-Wan's anger rose within him, and the force fields disengaged, clearing the path between him, and Darth Maul.
Maul was astounded at the fierce attack from Obi-Wan, but fought just as hard as he had with Qui-Gon. Obi-Wan evened the odds by slicing through Darth Maul's double-bladed Lightsaber, but Darth Maul was not yet done. He gained the chance to use the Force and push Obi-Wan into the melting pit, and he took it. Obi-Wan's Lightsaber fell into the pit, as did he. Once more, it was unfortunate for Darth Maul, as Obi-Wan was able to grab hold of a small light inside the pit, and hang for dear life. Several minutes past, and with each minute, the hatred for Darth Maul grew inside Obi-Wan, until he realized his chance. Though his Lightsaber was gone, Qui-Gon's was still available. He used the Force and leaped up pulling the Lightsaber towards him. He caught Maul off-guard, and sliced through him, ending the Sith's life.
Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker
Anakin Skywalker is the father of Luke Skywalker. What Anakin was very young, he instinctively knew how to use the Force, without any training although his powers were limited. It was incredible that such a small boy could learn to use the Force, and predict what will happen using it. Another effect of his Jedi abilities was superior reflexes, which helped him tremendously in a Mos Eisley podrace. Anakin Skywalker lived on Tatooine with his mother, and C-3PO, a droid in making. Over the years he grew, and became more adept in using the Force, never knowing his true fate. It is possible that if Anakin Skywalker had been so powerful in the Force that he could see the future, then he might have avoided the unpleasant power he would receive.
Anakin Skywalker's Jedi reflexes were a blessing to him, especially as he was a slave for Watto. Watto tended to enter Anakin in the Boonta Eve Classic podrace. Anakin's moth, Shmi Skywalker, could do nothing to stop Watto. Anakin relied on his reflexes and skill to save his own life during those races. His main competitor was Sebulba, an evil and dangerous Dug. He finally defeated Sebulba, and gained his freedom thanks to Qui-Gon Jinn, a Jedi who made a bargain with Watto for Anakin's life.
During the course of his early life, Anakin Skywalker also met with Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi Knight who had been trained by the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. It was pure chance (or fate) that Obi-Wan Kenobi met with young Anakin, as they were forced to land on the desert planet of Tatooine. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon were both amazed at how the Force flew through Anakin, so Qui-Gon Jinn took it upon himself to train Anakin in the ways of Force. Unfortunately, Qui-Gon Jinn was killed by a Dark Jedi. Obi-Wan Kenobi gave his word to train Anakin. Anakin was supposed to be the "one", or the one who would bring balance to the Force, both in light and dark. As Anakin grew in power and strength, he was pulled to the Dark side of the Force, and he left Obi-Wan Kenobi. Several years later, having battled furiously with other Jedis, Anakin Skywalker had become an evil and destructive man.
Though all of Anakin's history is not know, it's assumed that Anakin was under the influence of his master, Senator Palpatine, when he began hunting down the remnants of the Jedis. His many battles, both with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Palpatine, had left Anakin wearing black armor and life-support systems. Although Anakin obeyed Senator Palpatine, he had battled with him before he had come to accept his superiority. Anakin Skywalker had become Darth Vader, a half-man, half-droid. Tremendously strong in the Force, Anakin ruled with Emperor Palpatine (the man who had taken over the entire Galactic Empire, making himself an Emperor), and was unstoppable. In the many battles Anakin had faced before becoming Darth Vader, he had been horribly injured.
Anakin's son, who had been hidden from him, was Luke Skywalker. The Emperor knew that if Anakin Skywalker was to have any offspring, they would be a threat to his existence. In a fight between Luke Skywalker and Anakin (as Darth Vader) admitted to his son that he was actually his son's father. When Obi-Wan had started training Luke, he had said that an evil Jedi called Darth Vader had betrayed and murdered Luke's father, instead of saying that Luke's father became Darth Vader. Luke Skywalker, who was already strong in the Force, knew that what Darth Vader was saying was true.
In the final battle between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader) betrayed the Emperor, casting him into a pit, and transferring from the Dark side of the Force to the Light side, and saving both his soul, and his son. As Anakin Skywalker died, he was finally able to see his son with his own eyes, and not through the eyes provided for him by his mask. Anakin's injured body was burnt by Luke, and Anakin was finally reunited with his old and dear friend, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
